Street interviews Across Boston and California

Herstory Documentary Across Boston and California

This short documentary explores how care work and motherhood are perceived across different cultures and communities in Boston and California. Through candid street interviews, it captures how everyday people see, value, and often overlook the labor that mothers perform, both visible and invisible. Filmed as part of a larger project on care work, this documentary of Emily's own journey in understanding how care is percieved invites viewers to reflect on the unseen stories and social expectations that shape motherhood today.

Heart-to-Hearts

Filming this documentary took me from Boston sidewalks to California streets, asking strangers what care and motherhood mean to them.

I heard stories of pride, sacrifice, and resilience—but also noticed how rarely society truly values the work mothers do.

Listening taught me that behind every "Mom" was a women that was resilient and capable of handling the tiresome and rewarding job of being "Mom". This project isn’t just about capturing those voices but also making sure they’re heard.
